Production Design : P2

Image
For this Cinematography class i have a new set of inspirations for layout design. I have chosen the basic images found online through the google images search engine. The purpose of these settings and environments are to serve as locations for the scenes that i will be creating in my final project. -A cafeteria -A theatre -A railroad/ or some sort of beaten path -A counter or desk where a certain interaction can take place.

Speculative Fiction : Short Story

Image
For the beginning few weeks of class, we have been discussing the topic of speculative fiction. The assignment states that we are to choose a short story, poem, novel that has to deal with the concept of afro-futurism, or the black experience in general. Read that story, and create a film adaptation for our final project. I have done a bit of research on the topic and have finally chosen what i want to adapt. Before beginning this research, i had to think from a realistic and practical lens. What is my budget, what are my possible resources, who could i possibly cast, should i go for a popular book, or should it be more underground. What messages concerning the black experience speak to me the most? Upon lots of inner dialogue & research i have come to terms with the project and story that i want to adapt. I have chosen a short story : " On Being Crazy" By the Legendary W.E.B Dubois. There are several reasons that i chose this author. He has depth and a background i...

One friend is angry and sill hungry, awaiting the food line to open up. Then he is handed a snickers bar, and returned back to a normal and happy state. (Click on the images to enlarge them)

Production Collage

So I'm not the richest person in the world by any means, but I am inspired by the creative world that I see in a couple of films form directors such as Tim Burton... in particular. His worlds are always so weird and have dark undertones. They just stand out to me personally. The rest of the images are a few other background designs that I found interesting. It really shows how far you can take production design, and how color plays a major part in the look and feel of what you want your audience to feel. It helps them understand not only the characters but, their circumstances, and it certainly assists the story. Here is the full look of what kinds of production art I want my animation to display, even if I don't have the resources right now to match this epic-ness in my screenplay.

Black Panther

Image
I saw Black Panther in the movie theaters Twice! The first time was on opening night on a Friday evening. It was extremely packed and the best seat that I could get was all the way in the very front lol. I still enjoyed the movie, but I really got to enjoy the experience the second* time around.  All the visuals were clear, I was at the center of the screen and the characters were incredible. The movie Black Panther was directed by Ryan cooler, who I feel is just a genius at capturing emotion in his characters. My only critique is that it wasn't raw. The plot was well done, and this is only just the beginning it feels like of the black panthers path so I wasn't too disappointed. But I hope the next movie touches on more symbolic topics and social issues that relate to the society today. Thats the biggie on why I felt it was amazing. Chadwick Boseman who played as the Black Panther was a little bit soft. But understandably so, as he tried to sympathize with Kill monger (Mich...
